Himanta Biswa Sarma took the oath as Chief Minister for a second consecutive term on 12th of May, 2026. The swearing in ceremony take place at Guwahati in the august presence of the Honorable PM Narendra Modi, Chief Ministers from BJP and NDA ruled state, Cabinet Ministers of central government and other dignitaries. On 12th May, Himanta Biswa Sarma took the oath Chief Minister of the State of Assam for the 2nd consecutive term. In the year 2021 he became the CM of the state for first time. Under his leadership BJP and its allies have secured the majority for the third consecutive term from the year 2016.
