The Hindi Diwas 2026 is celebrated on 14 September 2026 to mark an important day in the constitutional history of India. On 14 September 1949, the Constituent Assembly adopted Hindi in the Devanagari script as the Official Language of the Union. The day not only marks the significance of Hindi as a constitutional, literary and cultural language but also marks the linguistic diversity of India.

Why Does India Celebrate Hindi Diwas on September 14?

India celebrates Hindi Diwas on September 14 because the Constituent Assembly chose Hindi in the Devanagari Script as the Official Language of the Union on September 14, 1949.
