India has maintained its medal winning momentum at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan on Thursday, September 24. India bagged one silver and two bronze medals on day five, bringing their total medal count to 15, including one gold, six silver, and eight bronze medals. Roshibina Devi won silver in wushu, while Satnam Singh-Salman Khan and the mixed skeet team of Parinaaz Dhaliwal and Anantjeet Singh Naruka won the bronze medal.

Naorem Roshibina Devi – Silver in Women’s 60kg Wushu

Naorem Roshibina Devi bagged the silver medal in the women’s 60kg Sanda after losing 0-2 against Zhang Xiaoyu of China in the final match. Both Zhang won the match in rounds 5-0. This is Roshibina’s third Asian Games medal after winning bronze in Jakarta 2018 and silver in Hangzhou 2023.

Post-match, Naorem Ongbi Romila Devi (the mother of Roshibina) said that the Indian athlete was suffering from flu before leaving for the competition. In spite of being ill, Roshibina contested in the competition and even managed to reach the finals.

Satnam Singh & Salman Khan – Bronze in Men’s Double Sculls

Satnam Singh and Salman Khan won the bronze medal in the men’s double sculls rowing in a time of 6:13.25. The Indian duo stayed in the second position till the 1,500m point but fell into the third position in the last 500m.

The gold medal was won by Yi Xudi and Yide Nie of China in 6:09.37, while the silver medal was won by Pavel Sorin and Mekhrojbek Mamatkulov of Uzbekistan in 6:10.49. This is India’s first-ever Asian Games medal in the men’s double sculls.

Parinaaz Dhaliwal and Anantjeet Singh Naruka – Bronze in Mixed Skeet

The bronze in the mixed team skeet discipline was won by Parinaaz Dhaliwal and Anantjeet Singh Naruka. It should be noted that the Indian duo made it to the finals having ranked fourth in qualification stage with 138 points.

This medal became another one for India in shooting on Day 5 of the Games.

India Secures Multiple Wins in Team Events

The Indian men’s kabaddi team won their fourth game out of four and topped Group A as they beat Chinese Taipei with 37-21.

The men’s hockey team kept their perfect record intact as they defeated South Korea with 8-2 in Pool A match. This is their third win of the tournament till now.

Manush Shah started off strong in the men’s singles event as he defeated Malaysia’s Wong Qi Shen 4-0. In the women’s doubles event, both teams Sreeja Akula-Syndrela Das and Diya Chitale-Yashaswini Ghorpade have qualified for further rounds.

Other Performance of India from Day 5

  • Sumit Kundu: His men’s 70kg Round of 16 fight ended in a referee stoppage due to an injury to his knee in the third round.
  • Parveen Hooda: Advanced to the quarterfinals of women’s boxing without throwing even one punch in the match.
  • Sakshi Chaudhary: She lost in the Round of 16 of women’s boxing event.
  • Pranati Nayak: Ended up sixth in the women’s vault final event in gymnastics.
  • Anahat Singh: Got through to the women’s singles squash quarterfinals following a 3-0 victory.
  • Joshana Chinappa and Velavan Senthilkumar: Made their way to the squash mixed doubles quarterfinals after beating Indians Suraj Chand and Shameena Riaz.
  • Bhavani Devi: Managed to reach the women’s sabre Table of 16 but lost to China’s Xueyi Rao.
  • Men’s quadruple sculls: Arvind Singh, Kulwinder Singh, Navdeep Singh and Jakar Khan came in fifth position in the final with 5:52.17.
  • Balraj Panwar: Got fourth place in the men’s single sculls final with 6:54.80.
  • Canoe sprint: The India team did not secure any medal positions, with India getting seventh position in the men’s kayak four event.
  • Mixed 4x400m relay: India qualified for the final with the timing of 3:16.23.
  • Men’s 10m air pistol: India ended up with fourth position in the team event, although none of their shooters qualified for the individual final.
  • Heptathlon: Anamika Aneesh Kozhinjaparambil jumped 1.74m in the high jump and went on to take the sixth place overall.
