The National Forest Martyrs Day 2026 is celebrated on September 11 to commemorate the forest department employees who sacrificed their lives while guarding the Indian forests and their wildlife resources. It is also dedicated to the memory of the great sacrifice made by Bishnoi community of Rajasthan during the Khejarli episode of 1730 when members of Bishnoi community resisted tree felling.
